  • Dart Valley U3A show off everything they have to offer at open morning

    April 18 2017

The Dart Valley U3A, University of the Third Age, held its bi-annual open morning last week with 14 new members.
The open morning was held at the Flavel in Dartmouth on Thursday, April 12, with the 31 existing groups setting up information tables for members to view, as well as potential new groups including Beginners’ Latin, Advanced Spreadsheets, Art, Gardens, Poetry, and, possibly, a third Wine Group.
Demonstrations were given by the Medau and Singing for Pleasure Groups, and somehow – very safely – the Archery Group.
Welcomed by chairman Gail Richmond, the Flavel main hall was buzzing with visitors and current members all wondering what to join and whether they had time to take on anything more in their busy lives.
Dart Valley U3A is part of the University of the Third Age organisation for people no longer in full-time work, which is why the meetings are held during the day, and their own unique programme offers a wide range of interest groups reflecting the wishes of our members.
The next monthly meeting, with a speaker, is on Thursday, May 11, at 10am in the Flavel.
