    March 30 2014

DARTMOUTH’S new mayor for the coming year will be Cllr Rob Lyon.
Cllr Lyon, 71, has been a town councillor for almost three years and is the current deputy mayor.
He will take over from Cllr Paul Allen in May.
Cllr Richard Cooke will be the deputy mayor.
A self-employed buildings project manger, Cllr Lyon is married to Di and between them have five children, and a Cavalier King Charles spaniel called Benji.
They live in Victoria Road and moved to Dartmouth some 25 years ago after falling in love with the town.
‘We used to sail out of Dartmouth for a number of years on my yacht before moving here,’ he said.
‘We would come down every second weekend from London and got to love the town and its people.’
Cllr Lyon is founder of the Dartmouth Music Festival and now its president.
