  • South Hams Newspapers advertising manager takes on Ride the Night challenge

    May 18 2017

Two local women are taking part in the Ride the Night event in London next weekend in aid of Women V Cancer.
Kate Brailsford, 42, and Jane Devonshire, 55, are taking part in the 100km cycle through London overnight from May 27 to 28.
Starting at Royal Windsor Racecourse, the route will take Kate and Jane, and hundreds of other cyclists, to Trafalgar Square, through Admiralty Arch, around the Houses of Parliament and back again.
Kate is an experienced cyclist, with her last big ride being the Help For Heroes Paris to Normandy ride two years ago, which saw her and her husband Rob, cycle 350 miles in four days.
Jane is newer to cycling, having taken it up after persuasion from her husband Ian, who is a keen cyclist, and this will be her first big ride.
Kate, who works for SAHFOS - Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science, and Jane, who is our own advertising manager at South Hams Newspapers, will set off at 10.30pm on Saturday, and will get back before 7am the next morning.
Women V Cancer is an amalgamation of three cancer charities for women: Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. Jane and Kate both have their own JustGiving pages, just visit: http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/JANE-DEVONSHIRE2 or www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kookie30 if you would like to donate.
